Movie Stereotypes

Men:

In movies, men are stereotyped as having large muscles and they usually wear tight clothes to show off their muscular build without revealing much. They are generally powerful and control what happens with violence. They are great at stunts, they can fall out of helicopters or face an explosion and live, and they also end up getting the girl who are usually rather good looking.

"Alpha males who control the action with violence," (Gauntlett, 2008).

Women:

In movies most women, putting it bluntly, have big breasts. They are usually skinny and have long hair. They are generally very attractive and wear very revealing clothes. Most of the time they are depicted as weak victims.

"Objects of desire for males on screen and males in the audience," (Mulvey, 1975)
